What is your check in/check out times?

For our South Dakota cabins- Your home will be available for check in at 4:00 p.m and check out time is 10:00 a.m. For our Oklahoma cabin- Your home will be available for check in at 4:00 p.m and check out time is 11:00 a.m.

What happens at checkout?

We ask that you dispose of all garbage in the garbage bins at the end of the driveway. Please load and start the dishwasher. It is not required, but very much appreciated if you can start a load of towels before you leave.

We do have some pet-friendly homes. Please make sure that you clean up after your pet in and around your home and dispose of the waste properly. Any and all damage caused and the resulting charges, i.e. carpet stains, wall damage, pet hair removal, etc will be the responsibility of the guest.

Are four wheel drive vehicles required?

Many of our vacation homes can be accessed in the winter with just front-wheel drive, but we highly recommend 4-wheel drive, anytime you are in the Black Hills, during the winter months.

We had a beautiful stay at the cabin during the rally. It was clean and ready for us, even had homemade cookies waiting for us. Plenty of room for our bikes and trailer. Communication was great! We had a small issue with the hot tub but Jim was very responsive and even had someone out to fix it quickly so we could enjoy it. Jim was very responsive and very polite. The surroundings were beautiful and quiet, big deck with a fire pit to enjoy. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

The cabin was perfect, very clean and family-friendly. It had everything we needed. We loved the porch, very spacious for our family. We used the hot tub everyday Our grandkids loved the fire pit and playground. The creek was also a plus for the grandkids to walk in and play. I really enjoyed my morning coffee listening to the birds and watching deer walk through the woods. My husband and sons are hunters and were in awe of how close the deer were to the cabin. It is centrally located so going to restaurants and activities was a plus. The host was amazing, responding to my questions immediately. I would highly recommend this place. The Lazy Horse Cabin was a joy to call home for our family get away. The cabin was clean and offers privacy unlike most of the other cabins in the area. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend this cabin! It was the perfect space for our large group, with plenty of room for both the kids and adults to spread out and enjoy themselves. The many amenities made our stay even better, and we made so many great memories here. Our only suggestion would be adding shades to the upper windows in the living and dining room. They let in quite a bit of heat during the day, and in the evening the sun was directly in our eyes, making it difficult to sit comfortably in those areas. Overall, it was an excellent stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a spacious, well-equipped place to stay!

We loved the cabin. It was a perfect size for our extended family vacation. It handled our family with three couples and three teenagers very nicely. It was an easy drive to the main drag in Hochatown to all the places. The cabin was private and felt very secluded. Even though it was near other cabins, there was enough woods in between so you couldn't even see them. We loved drinking our morning coffee on the porch and watching the deer. It came well stocked and the beds were very comfortable. The living space, loft, bedrooms, kitchen, and porches left enough room for everyone to spread out. We used the hot tub and gas grill with ease. Jim was a very responsive and down to earth host. He was a quick text away for anything we needed or had a question about. I appreciated that I was working directly with the owner and not a property management company. We will definitely consider this cabin again for our annual trip to BB! It was just perfect.

So I have to tell you, myself and my family were absolutely blown away about Jim's place. We loved the place and how clean and homie the place was. First of all, the view was so beautiful. When we got there it wasn't even 1 hour and deer were in the backyard, the kids were so excited to see deer so close. We loved the downstairs game room, and we played for hours. The bedrooms were so perfect and the kitchen was perfect to eat at Jim's lovely home. Not only did it save us money, but the best part was us spending time together as a family, cooking and creating memories. A great family game night outside by the fire was a new experiencewe got to share together, and we had the time of our lives. The spa was another great activity for our family nights and looking out at the view. All around, the experiences we shared together as a family here were unlike any other. The hot tub was a fantastic way to relax after a day of hiking and exploring! The location is also perfect, conveniently situated near incredible sites like Badlands National Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and the fun town of Deadwood. Even when the weather didn’t cooperate and we had a snowy, rainy day, we had an absolute blast! The air hockey and retro video game table, complete with classics like Pac-Man and Galaga, provided great entertainment! Overall, our stay was wonderful, and we highly recommend Buffalo Trail Cabin! We had a group of 9 adults and 1 child stay at Whitetail Lodge. Overall, the lodge was very clean and easy to access. The linens were fresh and clean, and the bathrooms were exceptionally clean as well. The host did a great job communicating with us throughout our stay and always checked in to make sure we were comfortable. It was also very easy to find and get into the property. The only downside for our group was the hot water supply in the showers. With the number of people staying in the house, the hot water didn’t last very long. Also, if you’re planning to ride ATV trails frequently, just know the lodge is a bit of a jaunt from the main ATV trail access. Overall, we had a good stay and appreciated the cleanliness, communication, and convenience of the property.

I rented this cabin for a relaxing, kid-free, girls weekend and it did not disappoint. We each had our own space to feel at home in. After a long day of travel, the hot tub was was the perfect ending to our day as the snow began to fall. As it snowed most of of our stay, the fire pit and hot tub were wonderful amenities that allowed us to still enjoy outside time. They had a fully stocked kitchen which made it easy to prepare meals when we decided on staying in. The host checked-in to ensure our needs were met and the check-out instructions were clear and easy to do. This is a great family-friendly cabin that is suitable for all types of getaways. I will be returning with my family to enjoy the next time we are able to come to The Black Hills.

As most houses in this area have steeper driveways, it can get a bit icy during the winter months. We stayed here for a small bachelor party as we wanted to go to deadweird in deadwood. Hot tub was amazing! The beds were really comfortable we had no complaints on sleep. There was everything you needed in kitchen along with extras like seasonings and coffee. We really couldn’t complain it was definitely peaceful and high up. Quiet roads. You can hear the people working in the gold mine near by at night but it was very interesting to look up what’s going on there. You are very close to a lot of things and if you don’t wanna leave you have everything like you’re at home right there with you. I would stay here every time I come. Hosts were very helpful from the moment I booked to the time we left. They deserve 5 stars they put in the work. I would recommend this to family or groups of friends looking for a good getaway. We enjoyed it so much thanks guys we will be back!

Buffalo Trail Cabin is so beautiful and they have truly thought of everything to make your stay perfect. The mattresses are a luxury experience. The cabin is so clean and well stocked and the complimentary cookies are not to be missed, soft and buttery and craveable. The hot tub was full, clean, hot, and such a treat on the morning we woke up to a skiff of snow. There are abundant fluffy towels, the fridge has a full ice maker, the smart tv is ready for you to login to your streaming services. It is so peaceful. This is a gem! My boyfriend meet his North Dakotan friends in Deadwood 5 years ago. This trip was partially a Friendiversary! We're already talking about planning another trip and hopefully coming back to Jim and Julie's place. It was literally home away from home. Anything you forgot to pack, it was possibly stocked. Coffee maker, Kueurig pod/pot combo, laundry soap (we left some behind wasn't sure how it might do in the airplane), plenty of seats outside, small gas firepit outside. Don't bring wood you can't burn it. There was a small fireplace inside, the view around us was lovely, deer said good morning and good night, chipmunks crawled on a porch, heard sandhill cranes flying over. If you want to hide you can here, if you want to hike you can do that too. If you want to gamble run to Deadwood. We loved our stay Jim was great, very gracious host and easy to communicate with. Julie's cookies were de-lish! Thanks for everything Jim and Julie. Can't wait to come again next year.

The cabin sits at the end of the road and far enough back we were comfortable with the kids playing outside without constant supervision. The adults enjoyed the big porch, outdoor living room, the hot tub and fire pit. Jim was very responsive to texts and kept in touch throughout our stay. He would text every day to be sure our stay was everything we had hoped for. We text him about an issue with the kitchen faucet and he offered to send someone the next day to get it fixed. Of all the cabins we have stayed at in Hochatown, this was by far the best one! It is exactly as shown in the images and description. I loved the seclusion most of all! Being at the end of the road, there was no road sound from vehicles. We were surrounded by woods and encountered so many deer during our stay. They even walked right next to us as we were at the fire pit, coming about 15’ to us! We enjoyed the outdoor amenities the most, but inside the cabin was just as comfortable with multiple activities for a rainy day. Jim was quick to respond to a handful of questions I had and was incredibly gracious. I would recommend booking as soon as you come across the Lazy Horse Lodge so you don’t miss out on a wonderful vacation!

Our family enjoyed our stay so much! The home is laid out well for multiple guests. Our grandchildren loved the bunk room and being right across the hall from their parents. Our stay at On the Rocks exceeded my expectations. The location was absolutely stunning - very private and quiet with the best views of Terry’s Peak and the black hills. The house was gorgeous and had everything we needed to make for a relaxing stay. Access to the club house pool was a big highlight! Jim was a total gem of a host, making us feel extremely welcome and was super responsive in our chats. We were met with cookies from a local bakery that were absolutely delicious. Everything from the ease of checking in, recommendations for things to do and places to eat, the quality of the house, the price, and our lovely hosts made for an unforgettable stay. We will definitely be staying again in the future! Can’t recommend it enough!

This cabin was spacious, beautiful, and comfortable. We noticed as soon as we walked in that it smelled wonderful, was very clean and was decorated with some character. We stayed with a few families and were able to gather when we wanted to and could separate when we needed a break. The decks offered a great chance to enjoy the Mountain View. It is also located in the middle of the sights (all about an hour away), offering beautiful scenic drives to get there. Lead is a beautiful mining town and the cabin is located just past a gold mine which offers stunning look outs over the operation. It is also moments away from one of the ski hills.

We recently stayed at the property and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The property was everything I hoped for and more. Nestled in the picturesque Black Hills, this place offered a perfect blend of comfort and charm. The location is ideal for exploring all that the area has to offer—close to the historic town of Deadwood, scenic trails, and stunning views. The home itself was spotless and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities one could need. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it easy to prepare meals. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the living area was cozy, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. I especially loved the outdoor space—waking up with a cup of coffee on the deck surrounded by nature was simply delightful! Great for motorcycle riders as the garage kept our cycles safe at night. Our host was extremely attentive and quick to respond, providing us with great local tips and ensuring we had everything we needed for a memorable stay.

Jim's place might be the best Air B&B our family has utilized. The pictures are accurate - it really was that great. There was a lot of room for our family of 6 to comfortably spread out. The deck, the hot tub, the game room, the proximity to Lead, Deadwood, and Spearfish Canyon, it was all perfect. Our goal was to linger a bit after our visits to Devil's Tower and Mt. Rushmore, and this property was the perfect place to do that. We were able to explore the area at our leisure, and then come back to the cabin and relax. Jim was incredibly pro-active. He was likely the most pro-active host we've ever had. He had great recommendations which we followed through and enjoyed the area. Also, don't underestimate the cookies. Jim leaves you some incredible chocolate chip cookies. They were so good, that Jim connected us with the baker and we ordered another dozen (30 seconds in the microwave puts them over the top). This was a fantastic stay - highly recommended!

Jim’s home was beautiful, and clean and we felt immediately at ease. The kitchen was stocked with exactly what we needed to prep home cooked meals and everything we needed to clean up after. The place felt private but yet still had neighbors. We couldn’t see the neighbors from the home due to all the beautiful trees. Deer occasionally walked thru the front yard. It’s that peaceful. And yet we still had wifi! The home was close to Beavers Bend state park and Broken Bow. The trip was exactly what we needed.

Lazy Horse lodge was beautiful and relaxing for a weekend getaway with the family. The house is beautiful and cozy. There are so many options for activities on the property you don't have to leave the house. Arcade games, horse shoes, corn hole, shuffle board. We especially enjoyed sitting by the fire pit and making smores. The house is very clean and has all the amenities you’d need. The host even left delicious cookies for us when we arrived. Jim was very responsive and the guidebook provided for the house was extremely helpful.

This cabin was awesome. The views were beautiful! We especially liked the large comfortable king beds in each room. The game room in the garage was fun! It was really nice to have a garage we could use to protect from weather. There was a storm that dropped some hail while we were there. We were able to get a SUV, motorcycle, small motorcycle trailer, and a Slingshot in the garage that night! Check in and check out were fast and easy. Jim was very responsive to any of our needs. We had a great girls weekend here. the rooms were wonderful and the beds so comfy. Ample space and loved the beautiful (and plentiful) bathrooms! The living room was great, the sofa was big and comfy and there was room for all of us. We spent the most time outdoors on the LOVELY covered patio. Hot tub, a table for playing games and again, plenty of room for all of us on the sofa seating. One of us loved afternoon naps on the patio as well. It was quiet and relaxing. Loved watching and listening to the birds. Although in beautiful surroundings, we were still close to many restaurants and things to do. We recommend entering the neighborhood by Naaman's BBQ, that way has the most paved roads. Jim was the perfect, attentive host. Although we lacked for nothing, I felt that if we had needed anything, he was ready and available. The welcome cookies and the stocked s'more bar were special touches we loved as well. Highly recommend the Lazy Horse Lodge!

I am a very high maintenance traveler and I would recommend this Airbnb to everyone! It was clean, very comfortable and had so many things that made our stay great. The beds and pillows were out of this world comfortable. The couch and living space made you feel right at home. The extra blankets that were around the home to use made it easy to cuddle up and watch a movie together. The kitchen had everything you would need. I really enjoyed that the fridge had an ice maker and filtered water, may be silly to some a big deal to me. There were also plenty of towels which was also a big deal. You really feel right at home here. Jim was an outstanding host who remained in touch and available should you need him.
